What does Zinc Pca do for skin?
Zinc PCA combines the sebostatic, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties of zinc with the humectant and skin-penetrating benefits of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (PCA). Zinc inhibits 5-alpha reductase activity to reduce sebum production, exerts bacteriostatic effects against *Cutibacterium acnes*, and modulates inflammatory cytokine release. PCA, a natural moisturizing factor component, enhances the delivery of zinc into the skin while contributing to hydration and barrier function.
Typical concentration: 0.1-2.0% (most formulas use 0.25-1.0%)
Is Zinc Pca safe?
Generally considered safe for cosmetic use. The CIR Expert Panel has deemed zinc salts and PCA safe, and Zinc PCA shows low potential for irritation or sensitization in human repeated insult patch tests.
