Bifida Ferment Lysate
A lysate from the fermentation of Bifidobacterium, known to strengthen the skin barrier and improve hydration.
What does Bifida Ferment Lysate do for skin?
Bifida Ferment Lysate, a non-viable bacterial fraction rich in metabolites and cell wall components, works by strengthening the skin's defense mechanisms. It supports the skin microbiome's balance, enhances the skin barrier function, and helps protect against environmental aggressors. This ingredient can stimulate DNA repair pathways, reduce UV-induced damage by mitigating reactive oxygen species, and decrease skin sensitivity by modulating inflammatory responses.
Typical concentration: 1-15% (most formulas use 3-10%)
Is Bifida Ferment Lysate safe?
Generally considered safe for topical use. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel has not specifically assessed Bifida Ferment Lysate, but probiotic-derived ingredients are typically well-tolerated with low irritation or sensitization potential.
