What does Allantoin do for skin?
Stimulates cell proliferation and extracellular matrix synthesis (including glycosaminoglycans and collagen). Keratolytic action promotes debridement of necrotic tissue. Functions as a chemical debriding agent that smooths rough skin by accelerating the shedding of dead cells. Anti-irritant properties through formation of complexes with irritant substances.
Typical concentration: 0.5-2% (FDA-approved OTC skin protectant at 0.5-2%)
